Green Screening

Hi everyone

Today at ict a couple of people worked out how to use the green screening feature on imovie 09. After it taking a long time on imovie we worked out that we have to use  imovie 09 to get it to work. Luckily Mr Stoodley (Jedi Master) said we had the ilife disk. Miss Cording had a website that showed us how to use this cool and new feature. After 5 to 10 minutes we worked out how to get any picture or movie that we wanted in the green background. It looked so cool.

So i guess for the next couple of weeks we will be experimenting as well is working on our MADE and TV NZ 6 web challenge!

Darn it! Holidays are OVER!!!!

Hey guys and gals,

Well, It is now and officially the first day back (for ICT) of the holidays. It was exciting but i caught a few yawners (Yes, you know who you are).We started off by getting a NEW TOPIC!!! Arggghhhhh!!!

Na, it was sort of exciting, the only bad thing was is the pressure cooking, boy, we knew it was coming. But the cool thing is, is that the topic is (we chose) Futuristic Schooling. We got the topic from Mr. Stoodley (JEDI MASTER) after he showed all of us a Microsoft future video. It was cool because the people in the video only had 1 little device they used to email, start up the car etc. And the people had all this SOOOO cool class room equipment. I am sooo jelous.

A few of us went off and had a fiddle around with after effects.

Oh and by the way, the new turn wheel apple is not real. HaHa Caitlin!!!!

Demo is totally cool.......

Demolition Day . . . . . . . . . . . This even included a server!

The components were very cool to play with..........

The many different kinds of RAM that they could gather together.........

Bring on the screwdrivers.............

Fridays are all about trying something new and demo is, and always will be, a highlight!
We had managed to save up a few computers that needed to be taken to pieces and the hard drives offered up for destruction (not ours). With our tools in hand, we sat waiting for the moment to arrive.
Many things were learned about the insides of a computer and what each component does.

Thanks to the students for their excitement and their love of pulling things to pieces. :)

Work, Work, Work, Fun, Fun, Fun

Hi Everyone

Friday was another exciting day of ICT. When listening to the daily notices, it said that ICT wasn't going to be on. It was a very sad moment because Miss Cording couldn't find a teacher to cover her class while she taught a very cool class like us. Luckily Mr Stewart offered to take her class. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

3 of us went and did a video of the school for our Promotional Video. We forgot to put the video on time lapse. Unfortunately the laptop lid fell backwards so about two thirds of the way around we started to video the sky. It wasn't one of our best moments. I think we'll cut it out. But we did manage to speed the video up, getting it down from 17 minutes to 3 minutes.

While we were out the rest of the class went and planned out what we were going to do for the rest of the year. A small group entered the online entry form for Young Designers which is very stressful. Another lot have started on a Story Board Competition. They are really going for gold. It looks awesome. Matt and Hannah are working hard at the Mad Movie Challenge. It is starting to take shape as well. Miss Cording and Hannah also are making a film for the Fresh Moves Group. Most of us are also having a look at M.A.D.E.

So there is alot happening in ICT extention this year and it will definitely keep us busy. It is all great fun as well.

Next week we will be working on the promotional video.

Editing the promotional video

Today we watched our promotional video and discussed what we thought was good and what was bad. Generally we thought there was a lot more editing required, the video was missing a lot of infomation. So we all got a job editing and re filming and taking new pictures, our video should now have more impact and look a more polished presentation, once we have finished editing it.

The Joys of technology

Well, what can I say except technology is stressful. By this I mean cameras not loading onto computers, blue screening not doing what you want it to. Although putting the promotional video together is going well of course the deadline isn't helping the nerves. One more lunch time and the video will be taken to Korea, Thailand and all over the world. Also our Aviary eggs will be put on the big screen in the assembly soon. Hopefully the rest of the school is impressed.
Thanks
Lexi

Ict

Woah, things are getting stressful round here and the people from last year will certainly think I'm crazy for thinking this is stress. The deadline is getting closer for getting the movie finished and on top of all that, we have a new project. It sounds like fun although it is going to be a mission and a half doing it. Thank goodness we can do it in pairs. Well we are ready for another friday. Aghhhhh!

Another Day, Another Discovery!

Sorry this whole blogging thing for Friday 3 April is so late. You can blame Miss Cording for giving me the wrong password. She will get confused with her own class.

Wow! Last Friday we were all over the show from the library to the ICT suite, back to the library. We didn't even get to go on a computer! How  sad's that?

Everyone forgot to bring pencils, so we all ran to raid the library's supply. It was like we were chasing after a celebrity or getting lollies. We were all crazy.

We've been talking about our learning pathways and we've planned out for our busy year in ICT Incredible Minds. Like what competitions we're going to enter including the TVNZ Web Challenge, MADE Awards and plenty more to keep us hard at work.

We watched another episode of the Wot Wots. It's so babyish that we all love it. As soon as it finished, we were all bouncing off our seats going "Woty, woty, woty". I guess you have to be there. I'm sure Miss Cording is so pleased by our response to the programme. What is the purpose of this, she'll be asking herself soon?

Then we got kicked back out of the  ICT Room and we strolled back to the library like a herd of cows at milking time. We went over what projects we have to do in the holidays. We have to make something showing what we did on holiday using something that's new to us. We can use iMovie, Aviary, anything but Powerpoint. We've got to finish our Aviary Eggs and send them to Miss Cording as a screen shot.

That was ICT for Term One. Have a Happy Easter.

That's it from Euan.

Caitlin Here!!!

Finally.
Its my turn for the blog. Today we started off by watching the Wot Wots. For you people who don't know what the Wot Wots are, they are a TV program (on every weekday morning at 8:35) about 2 aliens that live in a zoo and only say "Wot Wot'. We are watching them because Hannah, Kurtis, Miss Cording and Mr Stoodley went to Weta Workshops last year and saw the creators actually making the first episode. They were under confidentiality until the first episode came out on Monday!
Last week we were assigned jobs to do for Otumoetai Intermediate's Promotional Video. Today we split off into our groups and got to work. Alexia, Nina and I went around interviewing teachers and filming them. We also planned time to meet them during the week. Some of the other people filmed Mr Popping saying a inspirational message. While we were in our groups, there were others on Aviary creating eggs. We have to have four eggs created soon!! Today Aviary was having a problem saving so some of our cool work wasn't saved!!! ANNOYING!!!!!!!
When we came back we watched another Wot Wots episode and all fell about laughing. The Wot Wots is aimed at young kids (like 3 & 4) but we love it. It shows our maturity!

Anyway,
This week was as cool as always and guess what next week we are watching the next 3 or 4 episodes!!!!!

How you doin'?

Hello!
Well Fridays ICT class was awesome! We viewed our clowns from the week before, man oh man, we looked like a circus! Matt tracked down and downloaded the Aviary Tutorial Video for us all to watch. It was AMAZING! From that video, Miss Cording assigned us the 'Make an Egg' topic, where we need to create an egg like the Raven, Pheonix, Toucan and the Peacock ones, but they have to be different colours, to be our own. So, some of us proceeded to have a fiddle with some eggs whilst the rest of us stayed on the mat to listen to another assignment that Mr. Popping asked us to do. We had to make a promotional video for Otumoetai Intermediate. We asked if it could be cheesy and humorous, I mean it is sort of hard not to be humorous in our bunch! Miss Cording said not too cheesy, most of us sighed, this looks like its gonna be harder than we thought! We sorted ourselves into groups of who will do what in the video. Of course the looney's (eg. Caitlin, Becky, Joe, Nina, Hannah etc.) were on the weird jobs!!! So, after we did that, we all set out to have a go at the eggs. Matt, once again, smarty pants, had shown us his Pheonix egg he had created at home. He used the video he got but slowed it down. It was a good first go, Matt! Miss Cording was impressed! Sadly the 3pm bell rang and we rushed out the door.

See ya next week!!

Yay!!!

Boy did we have fun at I.C.T extension on Friday! Ok so I may be a little late with the whole blogging thing. I was having some technical difficulties and you know that saying they don't call me an I.C.T expert for nothing, well it's not always true.
Asides from learning to blog we did some pretty cool stuff on Friday. I mean turning the whole I.C.T extension group into half a circus isn't exactly what I'd call boring!
But making ourselves into Clowns wasn't new to everyone in I.C.T. Hannah had been working hard on Aviary over the week and had managed to teach herself, then teach us on Friday. Thanks Hannah!
It was hard at first because we couldn't upload our pictures onto the website, but after a while of problem-solving one of us who is new this year was able to do it. We
were all individually taking photos on this poor guys computer until Alex found a way to upload them through another site, yay Alex!

So I.C.T wasn't all plain sailing but we problem-solved and in the end got there. And that is what I.C.T is all about.

Setting the scene.........2009.

2009 brings a new year and 15 new members to our ICT Inc mind programme. There are 7 from last year who are the foundation of the class.

One week ago they were welcomed and introduced to the requirements of the class. A few shocks but mainly excitement.

First assignment was to establish what their ability is with new software...... we decided on the web based programme 'Aviary'. It gave us the ability to be in a safe environment and still receive feedback on our creations. Our username is incmind so sign up and have a look.

The other thing we are doing is making an animation to represent us at the beginning of every showing we do to our school community. This will be interesting to see how they choose to make themselves look.

Keep watching this space as the students are taking a week each to write what we did and the challenges we faced.......

Now would be good Becky!
